WebMaternal deprivation refers to the situation in which a child finds himself when a rich and rewarding relationship with the mother is absent. Deprivation produces adverse effects which vary with the degree of deprivation that exists. The results of partial deprivation are excessive need for love, anxiety, guilt, and depression.
